Dance School Welcome

On behalf of everyone at the Ison Aslanoff School of Dance & Theatre Arts in Bishops Stortford and Ison Aslanoff School, we welcome you all to the SPRING TERM 2018.

We are a small family run business, so if you have any concerns please speak to Jacqui, Tony or Andrea. We want children to learn in a friendly, relaxed and conducive environment where the atmosphere is light and a place where everyone is respected.

We offer a creative and inspiring choice of dance classes teaching the syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing from Pre-Primary through to Advanced 2 in a wide range of genres, in addition to LAMDA and musical theatre.

Welcome to Ison Aslanoff School of Dance & Theatre Arts

Ranging from our lovely Baby Ballet and Tiny Tap classes, we also offer Classical, Modern and Stylised Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Commercial, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap including Rhythm Tap, Classical Greek, Character, Song and Dance, National, Pilates, Acting and Musical Theatre Classes. The School is also an ISTD approved Dance Centre offering DDI and DDE Dance training together with Licentiate and Fellowship Guidance.

Old Mill Studios in Bishops Stortford is a charismatic grade 2 listed building which has been internally re-furbished to accommodate three beautiful purpose built dance studios offering a professional yet friendly environment to learn. Our venues in Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill offer spacious training studios in a warm and welcoming environment.

Our young performers will be inspired by knowledgeable, qualified and experienced professionals together with the energy and commitment of their peers from multiple disciplines. This collaborative approach and our strong sense of community ensures that our young performers’ talents, as an individual, are continuously nurtured, challenged and developed to a professional standard within a supportive environment. Pupils will work with many different teachers and our staff are chosen to complement and contrast with each other. Their approaches may vary but they share a common purpose. Together they help each pupil to define, develop and use the processes which are most useful to them.

All the teaching team have professional experience. We work as a strongly committed team, while maintaining regular contact with the industry. Some work in the theatre and the West End and some work internationally, and we occasionally invite guest teachers from abroad to work with us here. Our teaching is highly regarded in the dance and theatre world for the thoroughness, passion, quality and rigor of the teaching. We aim to produce performers who are flexible and versatile, able to move with confidence between classical and modern genres.

We work in a collaborative atmosphere and encourage pupils to connect emotion, intellect, spirituality and physicality, and above all, to connect with each other in everything they do. Our fully qualified, CRB checked teachers have the skills and knowledge to teach all ages and abilities in a safe and professional manner. Our ethos is to maintain the highest standards at all times combined with structured classes that are conducted with a sense of fun, enhancing the professional reputation of the School.

We have three terms a year with pupils regularly entered for RAD, ISTD, LAMDA, Trinity and IDTA examinations as well as taking part in regional, national and international festivals, amateur and professional engagements, shows and community performances.

Ultimately, what you will find at is a warm welcome and a place where talent is nurtured and potential realised.
